Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) has been a part of the South Bend community since 1916. It was originally known as Indiana University Extension Center and was part of Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington. It was created to provide education for the growing population in the South Bend area, and it operated as an extension of the main campus until 1958, when it officially became Indiana University South Bend. Since then, IUSB has grown to become one of the largest regional campuses within Indiana University.
