Idaho State University (ISU) was founded in 1901 as the Academy of Idaho, a private school in Pocatello. It became a two-year college in 1929, and was granted full university status by the state of Idaho in 1963. ISU is now part of the Idaho State Board of Education and offers over 280 degree programs to over 13,000 students each year. The university has nine colleges, including Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering & Technology, Health Professions & Nursing, Pharmacy & Nutrition Science, Graduate Studies and Research, Honors College and University College.
