Hardin-Simmons University is a private Christian university located in Abilene, Texas. Founded in 1891 by two brothers, John and Isaac Hardin, the university has been providing quality education for more than 125 years. It was originally founded as Abilene Baptist College, but changed its name to Simmons College in 1892 after receiving a generous donation from James B. Simmons, a businessman from New York. The school continued to grow and expand over the next several decades until it merged with nearby Hardin Junior College in 1934 and became Hardin-Simmons University.
