Under their leadership, the university underwent an aggressive expansion plan that included launching an online program and adding new degree programs to its existing curriculum. The university also opened its doors to traditional students from all backgrounds and began offering scholarships to those who could not otherwise afford tuition. By 2004, the university had grown significantly in size and stature, becoming one of the leading private universities in Arizona with more than 17,000 students enrolled. The university continued its growth trajectory throughout the 2000s, reaching 25,000 students by 2014.
