Franklin Pierce University was founded in 1962 as Franklin Pierce College. The college was established with the mission to provide students with a “transformative experience,” one that would prepare them for professional success and personal fulfillment. At the time, the college offered bachelor’s degrees in business administration and education. Over the years, Franklin Pierce has grown and expanded its offerings to include more than 40 undergraduate majors, master’s programs in business administration, education, nursing, and psychology, and a doctoral program in physical therapy. In 2007, the college changed its name to Franklin Pierce University to better reflect its breadth of academic offerings.

In 2009, Franklin Pierce University opened Maris College of Law in Concord, New Hampshire. This law school offers a Juris Doctor degree program that is designed to help students reach their full potential as lawyers by providing them with an exceptional legal education.
