Florida College Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Florida College was founded in 1856 by a group of Methodist ministers and laypeople. The college was established to provide an education to the students of the area, as well as to promote religious study. Initially, the college only offered classes in theology and Bible studies. Over time, however, the school expanded its curriculum to include a variety of other subjects such as English, mathematics, history, science, and music.

In 1876, Florida College added a preparatory school for students who wished to pursue higher education but did not yet have the necessary academic qualifications. As the enrollment grew over time, so too did the number of academic programs offered by Florida College. By the beginning of the twentieth century, Florida College had become one of Florida’s leading institutions for higher learning. It had also become known as a center for cultural and intellectual life in the state.
