Founded in 1944, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is a public college located in New York City. The school was originally established to provide training for those entering the fashion industry, but it has since expanded to include programs in business, advertising, marketing, communication and technology. FIT has grown from a small program offering seven courses and just 60 students to a comprehensive college with more than 10,000 students enrolled in more than 50 majors. FIT is renowned for its strong academic programs and its unique approach to teaching fashion design and related disciplines.
