Elizabethtown College was founded in 1899 by a group of local Mennonites. The college was originally established as a two-year institution, offering courses in education, business, and the sciences. In 1925, it became a four-year institution and began offering degrees in liberal arts. Over the following decades, Elizabethtown College expanded its academic offerings to include majors in fields such as accounting, biology, communications, computer science, economics, engineering, history, international studies, nursing and more. The college also increased its student body size and added more dormitories to accommodate the growth. In recent years the college has continued to expand its academic programs by adding new majors such as environmental studies and social work. Elizabethtown College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. The college was founded in 1899 and has grown to an enrollment of over 3,000 students.
