Edison State College was established in 1962 as Edison Junior College, the first two-year college in Collier County, Florida. The school’s original mission was to provide educational opportunities for the local community, and to serve as a bridge between high school and university education. Over the years, Edison Junior College grew and evolved into a full-fledged four-year college and in 2008 was renamed Edison State College. The college has since become one of the most respected institutions of higher learning in Florida.
In 2012, Edison State College launched its first online learning program, offering students from all over the world access to quality education online. Since then, Edison has added many more online degree programs and courses, allowing students to complete their studies remotely if needed. In 2016, Edison State College opened its own virtual campus that allowed students to take courses without ever having to step foot in a physical classroom. This virtual campus has been essential for those who are unable to attend classes on campus due to family or work commitments or geographical limitations.
