Daytona State College was founded in 1957 as Daytona Beach Junior College. It started with just over 900 students, and in its first year it had only two buildings on campus. Over the years the college has grown to become one of the largest community colleges in Florida, now having seven campuses throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties. In 2009 the college changed its name from Daytona Beach Community College to Daytona State College to better reflect the evolution of its educational mission. The college offers a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs, as well as several baccalaureate degrees. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, Daytona State also offers online courses and programs for students who are unable to attend classes on campus. The college is committed to providing quality educational opportunities at an affordable price and has been recognized nationally for its commitment to student success.
