Cres is a mountainous island with lots of greenery. The entire island is a protected nature reserve which attracts many hikers. The coastline of Cres is rocky with several pebble beaches. There are many dolphins in the waters around the island. Furthermore, the island is known for its great diversity of flora and fauna. There are more than 1500 plant species and about 200 bird species.
