Corcoran College of Art and Design Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

The Corcoran College of Art and Design was founded in 1890 by William Wilson Corcoran, an art collector and philanthropist. The college was the first private art school in Washington D.C., and provided instruction in fine arts and design. In the early 20th century, the college expanded its curriculum to include classes in illustration, painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, graphic design, industrial design and fashion design. Throughout the decades, the college has produced some of America’s most influential artists and designers including Roy Lichtenstein, Gene Davis and Paul Rand. In 2014, Corcoran College merged with George Washington University to become part of a larger institution that could offer more resources to students. The college now offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art or Graphic Design. Through its partnership with GWU the college is able to provide students with an interdisciplinary education that combines studio practice with professional development opportunities. See topschoolsintheusa for top high schools in Virginia.
