Founded in 1911, Connecticut College is a private liberal arts college located in New London, Connecticut. The school was originally founded by the Episcopal Church as the Connecticut College for Women. The first class of students arrived in 1915 and initially the college offered only undergraduate degrees. In 1969, the college officially became coeducational and began offering graduate programs. In 1972, it became part of the newly formed University of Connecticut system and changed its name to Connecticut College at New London.
In recent years, Connecticut College has continued to expand its academic offerings and research opportunities. The school now offers over 1,700 courses in more than 50 majors and minors across five divisions: Arts & Humanities; Social Sciences; Natural Sciences & Mathematics; Interdisciplinary & International Studies; and Education & Human Development.
