The College of Wooster was founded in 1866 by the Presbyterian Church as a co-educational institution. At that time, it was known as the University of Wooster and its original campus was located on what is now the site of Wooster High School. The college moved to its current location in 1883 and was renamed the College of Wooster in 1889. It has since grown to become one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, with a student body of over 2,000 students.
