Clayton State University was established in 1969 as Clayton Junior College and was part of the Clayton County Public School System. In 1986, it became a four-year college, and then in 1996 it was granted university status. In the time since becoming a university, Clayton State has grown to become one of the leading educational institutions in the state of Georgia. It now offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across five colleges: Arts & Sciences; Business; Health; Information & Mathematical Sciences; and Education & Behavioral Sciences.
