Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1882. It is the first school to offer an educational program for mortuary science. The college originally began as a part-time evening program and eventually expanded to become a full-fledged college. Over the years, the college has grown and changed with the times. In 1990, it became an associate degree granting institution and in 2007, it added a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science degree to its curriculum. In addition to its academic programs, Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science also offers a variety of services for students including internships, job placement assistance and career counseling. Today, the college is one of the premier institutions for mortuary science education in the United States and has been accredited by both the American Board of Funeral Service Education and The Higher Learning Commission since 1966.
