Central Bible College was founded in 1927 by Assemblies of God leaders, who sought to create a college that would provide biblical education and ministerial training for the denomination’s ministers. The school was originally located in Springfield, Missouri and was known as Central Bible Institute. It was founded with the commitment to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their calling as Christian ministers.
During its early years, Central Bible College provided courses in Biblical Studies, Spirituality, Preaching and Ministry. It soon added courses in other areas such as Psychology, Education, Business Administration and Music. In 1959, the school changed its name to Central Bible College and began offering its first baccalaureate degrees. Over the years, more than 20 degree programs have been added including Master’s degrees and Doctorates of Ministry. Today Central Bible College offers degree programs ranging from associate’s degrees through doctoral programs in areas such as Church Leadership & Administration, Theology & Christian Thought, Counseling & Psychology of Religion and more.
