Central Baptist College was founded in 1952 by Dr. J.V. Lee and Dr. J.E. White in Conway, Arkansas as a private Christian college affiliated with the Cooperating Baptist Fellowship of Arkansas and is now part of the Central Baptist College System (CBCS). The college initially operated out of a small building in downtown Conway, but soon expanded to include more buildings on campus and an additional location in Little Rock. During its first few decades, Central Baptist College was known for its strong academic programs and commitment to religious education, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of fields including theology, philosophy, history, literature, business administration and education.
The college also offered courses in music and art to cultivate students’ appreciation for the arts while providing them with an opportunity to develop their own creative talents. In addition to its academic offerings, Central Baptist College had a vibrant student life with clubs and organizations like the Student Government Association (SGA) that provided leadership opportunities for students as well as social activities like dances, intramural sports teams, and concerts held on campus throughout the year. In recent years the college has continued to expand its academic programs by adding new majors such as nursing and computer science while also developing online course offerings for students who cannot attend classes on campus or who prefer distance learning options.
