Costs
Applicants from Germany and Austria at the Embassy of the Central African Republic in Paris: 75 € (single entry, up to 1 month); €185 (multiple entries, up to 3 months); Transit visa: €65 (single transit). Express processing: + €10. Applicants from Switzerland at the Embassy of the Central African Republic in Geneva: 120 CHF (single entry, stay up to 60 days) 270 CHF (stay up to 90 days); 370 CHF (stay up to 180 days).
Visa types and costs
Tourist and business visas are valid for a maximum of 3 months. An entry and exit permit is required, it is issued by the immigration authorities in Bangui.
Transit
Otherwise, transit travelers who require a visa and who fly on with the same aircraft, have valid documents for the onward journey and do not leave the transit area do not require a transit visa. Embassy (see contact addresses).
Application required
(a) 2 application forms. (b) 2 passport photos. (c) Passport with at least three blank pages. (d) Round-trip Ticket. (e) Proof of Sufficient Funds. (f) Fees (cash or personal check upon application). (g) Proof of yellow fever vaccination. (h) Invitation or other proof of purpose of stay. (h) Work visits: an employment contract approved by the Central African authorities. If the application is submitted by post, a stamped, registered return envelope must be enclosed.
Processing time
Approx. 2 weeks, express processing possible.
Legally Required Registration
If the stay is to last more than 3 months, travelers must register with the police station within 4 weeks.
Documents required upon entry
Proof of valid yellow fever vaccination.
Entry with children
German: Machine-readable children’s passport or your own passport. A separate passport for children is recommended, especially for longer stays. Austrians: Own passport. Swiss: Own passport. Turks: Own passport. Note: The same visa regulations apply to children as to their parents. Since June 27, 2012, children need their own travel document (passport / children’s passport) to travel abroad (also within the EU). Entries of children in the parental passport are no longer possible.
Exit permit
Foreigners who have stayed in the country for more than 3 months need an exit permit issued by the police. This does not apply to nationals of visa-free African countries.
