Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) was founded in 1951 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration and the Congregation of Holy Cross as a two-year religious college. Located in Hammond, Indiana, CCSJ is a Catholic institution that offers a variety of programs for students at all levels.

In 1965, CCSJ became an independent four-year college and began offering bachelor’s degrees in business administration, social work and liberal studies. In 1975, the college added master’s degree programs in nursing and education to its curriculum and became known as Calumet College of St. Joseph. The school also began offering online courses in 1999 to help meet the needs of students who could not attend classes on campus due to their work or family commitments.
