Brock University was founded in 1964, when the Ontario Legislature granted a charter to the newly established university. The university was named after Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, a British war hero who died during the War of 1812. It began as a liberal arts college with just over 500 students and has since grown to become one of Canada’s top comprehensive universities.

Brock University is one of the largest universities in Canada, with a student population of over 19,000. In 2021, Brock welcomed almost 15,000 new students to its campus. Of those students, approximately 70% were admitted directly from high school, while the remaining 30% were transfer students and international students. The average admission grade for direct entry applicants was 87%, while transfer applicants had an average admission grade of 82%. The average GPA for Brock applicants was 3.6 out of 4.0.

In terms of international student admissions, Brock saw a dramatic increase in 2021 compared to previous years.
