Brevard College was founded in 1853 by Dr. William Brevard and his wife, Harriet. It was originally located in Charleston, South Carolina, but was moved to its current location in Brevard, North Carolina in 1934. The college was established as a Presbyterian-affiliated school with the purpose of providing a liberal arts education to students of all backgrounds.
