The Boston Architectural College was founded in 1889 as the first independent architectural school in the United States. The school was established by a group of architects, engineers, and business leaders who wanted to create an institution that would provide a higher education for aspiring architecture professionals. During its first year of operation, the college offered classes in architectural design and engineering drawing. Over the years, the college has grown and expanded its curriculum to include courses in interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, construction management, and more. Today, BAC offers an array of degree options including Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture and Design Studies; Master’s degrees in Architecture and Design Studies; as well as Doctoral programs. In addition to its academic offerings, BAC also provides students with a range of professional development opportunities such as internships and research opportunities.
