Bluffton University was established in 1899 by the Mennonites of the General Conference Mennonite Church. The university is located in Bluffton, Ohio and is affiliated with the Mennonite Church USA. The mission of Bluffton University has always been to provide an education that prepares students for lives of service and leadership in a global society. Throughout its history, Bluffton has remained true to its commitment to faith-based learning, academic excellence, and community engagement.
In the early years, Bluffton was a small liberal arts college offering courses in business, science and humanities. By the 1950s, it had expanded its programs to include more than 30 major areas of study such as nursing, education and social work. In recent years, Bluffton has added additional programs such as engineering, computer science and public health.
