Blackburn College was founded in 1837 by Reverend Gideon Blackburn of Tennessee. He had a vision of providing an education to the people of his state that was equal to any other college in the country. The college was originally located on a 40 acre plot of land and consisted of a single building. Over the next few decades, the college grew rapidly, adding additional buildings and expanding its curriculum to include courses in literature, science, mathematics, music, and foreign languages. By the turn of the 20th century, Blackburn College had become one of the leading educational institutions in Tennessee and had earned an excellent reputation throughout the south. In 1926, it became accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and began offering degrees in many fields. Over time, Blackburn College has continued to grow and expand its academic offerings to include programs such as business administration, criminal justice, nursing, engineering technology and computer science. Today it is known for providing a quality education at an affordable price with a strong commitment to student success. Check MEDICINELEARNERS.COM for a list of medical schools in Nevada.
