Validity
Validity and maximum length of stay: Up to 90 days. In person or by post at the consulate or at the consular department of the embassy (see contact addresses). Tourists requiring a visa must apply for an e-Visa.
Application required
(a) Passport that is valid for at least six months at the time of entry. (b) 2 application forms (can be downloaded from the website of the responsible diplomatic mission). (c) 2 passport photos. (d) Copy of International Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. (e) Copy of the flight ticket or confirmation from the travel agency that the outward and return journey has been paid for. (f) If applicable, valid residence permit for Germany/Austria. (g) In the case of business trips, a letter of introduction from the company stating the duration of the trip, the purpose of the trip and the assumption of costs (addressed to the embassy). (h) Fee (by bank transfer). e-Visa (a) application form online at evisa.gouv.bj; (b) Visa fees (VISA or Mastercard); (c) passport; (d) flight ticket; (e) valid vaccination certificate against yellow fever. A stamped, registered return envelope and proof of payment must be enclosed with the postal application.
Temporary Residence
Extensions can be requested at the immigration authorities in Cotonou (Direction de l’Immigration, Avenue Jean Paul II, Cotonou). Further information from the embassy (see contact addresses).
Processing time
Approx. 72 hours in Germany, 48 hours in Switzerland. Express processing: 2 working days. No sameday processing in Berlin. e-Visa: 24 hours.
Entry with children
German: Machine-readable children’s passport with photograph or your own passport. Austrians: Own passport. Swiss: Own passport. Turks: Own passport. Note: The same visa requirements apply to children as to their parents. Attention: Children need a passport with enough space for visa and entry/exit stamps. Minors traveling alone should have a permit in French signed by both parents. It is recommended that children who are accompanied by only one parent carry a simple confirmation in French from the other parent of consent to travel. Since the 27th Since June 2012, children need their own travel document (passport / children’s passport) for trips abroad (also within the EU). Entries of children in the parental passport are no longer possible.
