Visa information

Attention: When entering Germany from Belarus, there is a quarantine obligation. Generally required, [1] excluding citizens of the following countries listed in the table above for stays of max. 30 days per entry and only when entering and exiting via Minsk Airport (visa-free entry does not apply to travelers who are from Russian enter airports or travel on to Russian airports; official travelers such as business or diplomatic travelers are also excluded). Entries can be made as often as you like, but the maximum length of stay of 90 days per calendar year must not be exceeded: (a) Germany, Austria and all other EU countries; (b) Switzerland. (c) Turkey for stays of up to 30 days (entry and exit for Turkish travelers is possible through all border crossings). Brest Recreation Area Tourists are allowed to travel to the Brest Recreation Area without a visa for up to 10 days. Foreign hikers and cyclists can stay in Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park for up to 10 days without a visa. In addition, the Brest recreation area includes the city of Brest, the Brest region, as well as the Kamenenz, Pruzhany and Zhabinskovsky regions. Entry must be via Minsk International Airport. Park Avgustov Canal Tourists are allowed to stay in Park Avgustov Canal and in the city of Grodno and Grodno Region for up to 10 days if they enter through certain border crossings/airports. Visa on arrival: A visa on arrival is only issued at Minsk National Airport. Issuance is at the discretion of border officials. When entering via the Russian Federation, it is not possible to issue a visa upon entry. Costs

Visas for persons under the age of 15 are free. Germany, Austria, Switzerland: The following visa fees apply to German, Austrian and Swiss nationals. individual visa: 60 €. Express processing within 48 hours: the normal fee is doubled. Group visa (single entry): €10 per person. Express processing: €20 per person.

Visa types and costs

Single visa, tourist visa, transit visa (48-hour stay), multiple-entry visa (permanent visa or visa for two, three or more entries and exits), group visas for 6 or more people.

Validity

Maximum 1 year. Validity depends on the length of stay and the validity of the passport (e.g. visas cannot be issued beyond the validity of the passport).

Transit

There is no possibility of visa-free transit. A transit visa must be applied for before transit. In person or by post to the consular section of the embassy (see contact addresses).

Application required

Visitor visa (simple visa): (a) 1 application form (downloadable from the website of the responsible diplomatic mission). (b) 1 recent passport photo (only biometric passport photos (35 x 45 mm) not older than 6 months). (c) Passport valid for at least three months beyond the requested visa period and containing two blank pages. (d) Children under the age of 16 require a copy of the birth certificate and copies of the main pages of the parents’ passports (with the passport number, a photograph and the expiry date). (e) Payment of Fee: bank transfer slip, bank statement or personal cheque. If you apply in person, you can also use a bank card. (f) Notarized invitation of a legal entity in Belarus. (g) if applicable Copy of the valid residence permit for Germany/Austria. (h) Proof of a valid foreign health insurance according to Belarusian regulations. Additional business visa: (ah) Business/guest trips over 30 days: Certified invitation from the Belarusian company or a legal entity in Belarus (with reason for travel and assumption of costs as well as surname, first name, date of birth and passport number of the traveller, length of stay and entry and exit dates ; it must also be clear whether a double or triple visa is required.); Tourist visa additionally: (ah) Voucher from a licensed Belarusian travel agency stating the reference number of the hotel booking in Belarus. EU citizens can also present a confirmed hotel reservation of max. 10 days instead of an invitation. The visa then allows the applicant to to stay in Belarus for as long as the hotel reservation stipulates. Group Visa (for tourist groups of 5 or more people): (a) Passports valid for at least three months beyond the requested visa period and containing two blank pages. (b) Duplicate list detailing participants’ surnames and first names, sex, dates of birth, passport numbers and nationality. (c) Confirmation from the tour operator with precise details of the itinerary with overnight stays, the travel dates and the means of transport used. Transit Visa: (a) Valid entry documents (visa, if required) for the destination country. (b) 1 application form. (c) 1 recent passport photo. (d) Valid passport, which is valid for at least three months beyond the requested visa period and contains two blank pages. (e) Payment of Fee: bank transfer slip, bank statement or personal cheque. If the application is submitted by post, a stamped, registered return envelope must be enclosed. Attention: EU citizens currently require an official invitation for all visa types except transit visas. In addition, the applicant must state in the visa application the exact purpose of travel, the full designation (name) and address of the inviting Belarusian legal (natural) person as well as the intended residential address in Belarus (e.g. hotel address). Proof of sufficient funds

Foreigners must prove that they have sufficient funds of around €20 per day of stay to finance their stay in the Republic of Belarus and to leave the country in the following ways: – cash in the national currency of the Republic of Belarus or in another currency that can be converted by the National Bank, – Documents enabling receipt of funds, – an invitation for a temporary stay issued by the internal authorities of the Republic of Belarus, – evidence of booking and payment of accommodation and meals in the Republic of Belarus. – a letter of guarantee from a sole proprietorship or legal entity that they will cover all costs incurred in connection with the stay of a foreigner,

Legally Required Registration

All foreigners staying in Belarus for more than 5 working days are required to register with the immigration authorities within the first five days. The registration is carried out by the hotel. In the case of private accommodation, the traveler must register himself within three working days. It is also possible to register online via the Unified Portal of e-Services (NAIS). You will need: migration card, 2 passport photos, 1 copy each of the most important pages of the passport and visa, 1 application from the inviting organization with stamp and signature (not for private visits), 2 forms to be filled out at the immigration office (only available in Russian). Registration can usually be completed within a day. Travelers must stay where they are registered.

Documents required upon entry

(a) Sufficient funds of at least approximately €20 per day of stay. (b) During their stay in Belarus, travelers must be able to show the original of a foreign health insurance contract. This must contain: – contact details including the telephone number of the insurance company; – the personal data of the traveler; – Travel health insurance valid in Belarus with an insured sum of at least €10,000.

Extension of stay

An extension is only possible for diplomats. Tourists must submit a new application to the Ministry of the Interior. The total length of stay of a foreign person in the Republic of Belarus on the basis of a visa within one year, regardless of the type of visa, must not exceed 90 days.

Entry with children

German: Machine-readable children’s passport or your own passport. Austrians: Own passport. Swiss: Own passport. Turks: Own passport. Note: The same visa requirements apply to children as to their parents. Note: A notarized and apostille statement in Russian is required if a minor child is accompanied by only one parent with custody. When accompanied by third parties or when minors are traveling unaccompanied, a corresponding declaration from the legal guardian is required. Since June 27, 2012, children need their own travel document (passport / children’s passport) for trips abroad (also within the EU).
