Bay State College was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1867. It was originally established as a private business school under the name of the Bay State Institute. The original mission of the college was to provide a quality education to its students and to help them become successful in their chosen fields. The college offered courses in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management and marketing. It also provided a variety of other courses such as industrial engineering and law.
The college quickly grew in size and reputation over the years and by the turn of the century had become one of the most respected colleges in New England. In 1920 it changed its name to Bay State College and began offering more advanced degree programs such as engineering, nursing and pharmacy. By this time it had also become a leader in research with faculty members publishing numerous articles about their work in various journals.
In recent years Bay State College has continued to expand its offerings with new degree programs including computer science, psychology, public health and social work. Its faculty have received numerous awards for their research while its students have gone on to achieve success both professionally and academically throughout the world.
