Barry University was founded in 1940 as a Catholic College by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. It was originally named Barry College and was located in Miami, Florida. In the beginning, the college offered only associate degree programs to its students. However, by 1965 it had expanded its curriculum to include bachelor’s degrees and graduate programs. In 1969, it was renamed Barry University and began offering doctorate degrees as well. Since then, Barry University has grown significantly in size and scope. It now consists of six campuses spread out across Florida and offers over 150 degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students alike. The university also offers online classes for those who are unable to attend traditional classes on campus.
