According to medicinelearners, Armenia (Armenian: Հայաստան, Hajastan) is a country in the South Caucasus (Asia) that has been independent from the former Soviet Union since 1991. Although Armenia is geographically located in Asia, the country has been a member of the Council of Europe since 2001. Armenia borders Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey. The capital of Armenia is Yerevan (Yerevan). A number of major cities in Armenia are: Gyumri and Vanadzor.

Armenia is the oldest Christian state in the world (Christianity since 301).
