Arizona Christian University (ACU) was founded in 1960 as a Bible college. Originally known as Southwestern Bible College, the school was established to provide a Christian education to students. The school’s mission statement was “to prepare individuals for a life of service to God, church and society.” ACU has grown significantly since its founding and now offers baccalaureate-level degrees in numerous academic disciplines. ACU’s academic programs include business, psychology, criminal justice, education and nursing.
The university has continued to expand its educational offerings over the years, adding master’s degrees in business administration and organizational leadership in 1999. In 2007, ACU began offering its first doctoral program in leadership studies and followed that with a doctorate of ministry program two years later. The university also offers an online degree program for working adults that features accelerated classes and flexible scheduling options. ACU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which is recognized by the U.S Department of Education as an accrediting agency for colleges and universities throughout the country.
