Anderson University was founded in 1911 by the Church of God, a Pentecostal denomination. Initially, the school was located in Johnson City, Tennessee and offered two-year programs for ministerial training. Over the years, Anderson University has grown and evolved to become one of the premier Christian liberal arts universities in the nation. In 1932, Anderson moved to its current location in Anderson, South Carolina and began offering four-year degrees. In 1941, the school changed its name from Anderson Bible College to Anderson College to reflect its expanded mission.
The school continued to grow over the years and in 1993 it became a university and was renamed Anderson University. During this time they added several new degree programs such as business administration, nursing, education and computer science. The university also began offering graduate degree programs such as an MBA program in 2002. Throughout its history, Anderson University has remained committed to providing students with an excellent education grounded in Christian principles and values. Today it offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and minors as well as several graduate degrees that prepare students for successful careers or further study at other institutions of higher learning.
