Visa information

Cost
Germany tourist, business visa: free (single entry, max. 1 month stay) + 38 US$ cash processing fee. Austria tourist visa: single entry: €97. Application to the responsible diplomatic mission in person. The visaed passport must be collected in person from the Afghan diplomatic mission in Berlin.
Application required
(a) 1 application form (downloadable from the website of the responsible Embassy of Afghanistan). (b) 1 recent passport photo (4 x 5 cm) with a white background; 2 passport photos when applying in Vienna and Geneva. (c) Official invitation/covering letter from the organization/company with the reason for or purpose of the trip, precise details of the travel destinations (places), with whom the traveler is staying, duration of the trip, and a note that the cost of the trip/stay will be covered by the company/ organization are borne. (d) Visa fee (original bank deposit slip, no cash payment). (e) Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least one blank page and copy of relevant pages. (f) a self-addressed, stamped, registered envelope for delivery of the visaed passport. (g) Birth Certificate of Minor Applicants. (h) If applicable, residence permit for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. (i) Proof of employment in the home country. (j) planned itinerary.
Processing time
10 working days in Berlin, 10 working days in Vienna. Express visa (only in exceptional cases): 2 working days + mail. Express visas are no longer available in Berlin. The minimum processing time for all types of visas there is two weeks.
Proof of sufficient funds
Foreigners must have sufficient funds for their stay.
Legally Required Registration
Foreign tourists and journalists are required to report to the press office of the Kabul Tourist Board upon arrival.
Entry with children
Since June 27, 2012, children need their own travel document (passport / children’s passport) for trips abroad (also within the EU). Entries of children in the parental passport are no longer possible.
