Every major party in Germany has a foundation with which it promotes political education in its own way. This of course includes financial support for students who can identify with the respective political orientation and the foundation-specific educational goal.
Konrad Adenauer Foundation
The CDU-affiliated Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) supports students and doctoral candidates with above-average school or academic performance. The scholarship holders are also involved in political, social, church or cultural areas or are planning such an engagement in the future. A prerequisite for admission is that applicants identify with the political content and topics of the foundation.
Applications for admission to the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s funding program are submitted by self-application. For this purpose, among other things, an opinion from a teacher or university professor must be submitted. In a second step, the applicants still have to take part in selection conferences.
Scholarship holders can also receive funding for study visits abroad. The duration here is up to two semesters.

Identification with the basic values of social democracy is expected.
The application for the support program of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is done by self-application. Those who are shortlisted must submit additional documents, such as expert reports from teachers or university professors. Then there will be interviews.

The CSU-affiliated Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS) supports first-year students, students and doctoral candidates with above-average school or academic performance. At the same time, applicants have to get involved in the political, church or social sphere. Another prerequisite is that the future scholarship holders identify with the political orientation and goals of the foundation.
Applications for admission to the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s funding program are submitted by self-application. In a second step, suitable applicants complete a selection conference. In the first year of the scholarship, the scholarship holders are in the trial funding year or basic funding. Once this has expired, it will be decided based on the academic performance and the socio-political commitment whether further funding is justified. If this is the case, the scholarship holder receives the main funding up to the maximum funding period under BAföG.
The Foundation’s scholarship holders will also receive funding for temporary study visits abroad if they provide a comprehensible justification.
