Starting the mechanism

Each mechanism is checked and tested during 8 to 10 days by us in our workshop, so ready to operate when receiving the customer.

For perfect operation, it is important that the mechanism is perfectly stable and plumb in the crate. It must be rigged to not move. The mechanism is then placed inside the hanging weight, and the balance. He gently pushed the tick begins to be heard, the machine is on!

If the balance of the mechanism is not good, this one will quickly stop. It is important that the ticking is regular on one side or the other.

Formerly, mechanisms were put in plumb with small wedges of wood or cardboard. As a major type of clocks defined on microedu, the mechanical clocks are fitted to the front of two small cylinders to climb or descend the mechanism on one side or the other by screwing or unscrewing.

Advance and the delay mechanism

Margin setting or the delay is effected by changing the length of the pendulum. Indeed, the more one is, the more the amplitude will be long, so “slow” mechanism. Conversely, if its length is shorter, its amplitude will “speed up” the mechanism.

For this, we must act on the nut at the base:

-If the movement forward, lengthen the balance by unscrewing the nut.

-If the movement delays, shorten the balance by aiming the nut.
